VETERINARY PROJECT
NKECmVOS OF FARMERS NGARUA AND TAUHEI SUPPORT (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Friday. Meetings of farmers at Ngarua on Wednesday evening and at Tauhei last evening gave unanimous support to the proposals to form a Morrinsville District Veterinary Association. Those present at both meetings signed the application forms for membership of the association and gave cheques or dairy company orders for the first year’s subscription. At Ngarua addresses were given by Mr A. Hayward, a director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, and Mr F. W. Seifert, chairman of the Morrinsville Dairy Company. The Tauhei meeting was addressed by Mr Seifert and by Mr M. E. Barrowclough, president of the Morrinsville branch of the Farmers’ Union. Messrs A. Hayward and F. Vickers were elected delegates from Nfrarua, and Messrs M. E. Barrowclough and F. W. Seifert delegates from Tauhei. A meeting of delegates will be held in Morrinsville next month to form the association and appoint a veterinary surgeon and a secretary. A subscription of £2 10s for herds of under 50 cows, and of £3 10s for herds of 50 to 100 cows, has been decided on. There will be no charge for visits by the veterinary surgeon to farms. The provisional committee aims to secure 400 members and have an income of about £I3OO a year. Further meetings will be held during the next 10 days at Motumaoho, Mangateparu, Tahuna, Tatuanui, Kereone, Springdale, Kiwltahi and Waitoa.
