Luring of Stoats A method of luring stoats into the open and so making it possible to destroy them was described oy a member of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society when ways of exterminating the pests were being discussed. He said that by rubbing a wet cord on the outside of a bottle a sound imitative of native birds was produced. The stoats invariably responded to the mimicry employed and came out into the open.
