Feb. 23 The latest Bank of England returns are;— Issue Department: Notes in circulation, £472,700,000: notes in the banking department. £53,700,000; other Government securities £388,500,000; other securities, nil; silver coin, £500,000.
Banking Department: Rest, £3.700,000; public deposits, £16.400,000; bankers’ deposits, £103.100,000; other accounts. £35.100.000; Government securities. £78.000.000; discounts and advances. £17,500,000: other securities, £21,700.000; notes and coin, £54,700,000. Ratio of reserves to liabilities, 35.37. The Bank of England discount rate remains unchanged at 2 per cent.
