I | The Waikato Winter Show Hall was i gaily decorated with red, orange and : black streamers, builders’ emblems. ! and punga ferns on the occasion of a i complimentary social tendered last j evening by fch-e Hamilton Master Build- ! ers’ Association, in conjunction with i the Hamilton Sub-contractors' Associj ation, to the delegates visiting Hamil- - ton for the 39th annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Builders i and Contractors' Association. I A happy spirit prevailed throughout j the evening, and an excellent prol gramme was contributed by local artj ists, songs being rendered by Miss ( Alma Burton, Miss Yal Porter, Mr G. A. Wheeler, and a duet by Miss D. Liddy and Mr H. Liddy. Elocutionary items were given by Miss S. Burton and little -Lorna Bridges, who also entertained with dances to bagpipes accompaniment by Miss If. Clothier. An amusing quartette comprising Messrs R. W. Braithwaite, T. G. Galloway, R. L. Lovell and G. A. Wheeler, introduced in satirical vein lhe names and activities of numerous builders. Selections by the Orphans’ Club orchestra were much appreciated. A delicious supper was served during the evening, the tables being attractively arranged with bowls of golden flowers. At the conclusion of the evening Mr C. S. Luney, in a short speech, thanked the ladies’ committee for their valuable assistance. Mrs W. A. Petrie, wife of the immediate past president, was wearing a frock of black crepe suede with floral coatee. Mrs D. C. Street wore midnight blue Venetian lace and black velvet coatee: Mrs 'D. I. Gale, black frock patterned in gold and green, and black coatee: Mrs R. J. McKinnon, black floral georgette and black coatee: Mrs 11. D. Curling, navy satin-backed sheer and black jacket; Mrs W. Short, black velvet trimmed with black tulle frilling and short black coat; Mrs W. E. Young, rose floral chiffon and brown coatee: and Mrs M. H. Stapleton, burgundy red cloque.
