GIRLS’ BACKSTROKE RECORD

AUCKLAND, Friday

A new 50 yards junior girls’ Dominion backstroke record was created by Miss B. Owen, of the Otahuhu Club, in a special attempt at the carnival held by Ihe Auckland Swimming Centre in the Tepid Baths last evening. Early in the evening Miss Owen was clocked a I 36 3-ss. which equalled the record, but in a later attempt she succeeded in establishing new figures for the distance, registering 36 l-3s.
