PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP
PROFESSIONALS AT ROTORUA A. MURRAY’S COURSE RECORD ROTORUA, Thursday A, Murray, the Auckland professional, established a course record of 64 in the first round of the Rotorua provincial golf championship, played In conjunction with the New Zealand professional golfers’ annual tournament this morning. Going out Murray, who was playing attractive golf with good putting on the greens, did the first nine holes in five under bogey figures, while he returned in 34. He thus broke the previous record for the course of 66, jointly held by A. J. Shaw and J. McCormack, who was until recently professional to the Rotorua Club. On the second round Murray also played consistent golf to return a 69, which placed him at the top of the list for the championship with W. Albon, another Aucklander, with an aggregate of 133. Albon’s round of 67 was the next best to that of Murray’s during the morning. Title-holder’s Mistakes N. Fuller, the professional titleholder, could not do better than an aggregate of 145 and like the remainder of the competitors, made costly mistakes on the greens. In tiie 36 holes aggregate medal handicap for the Henry and Bishop Cup Murray and Albon both had figures of 135, Murray winning the trophy and also the morning president’s medal handicap. The Stableford bogey in the afternoon was won by Albon with a score of 67. Details of the championship rounds arc as follows:
