DANGEROUS ALSATIAN
ORDERED TO BE DESTROYED WOMAN BEFORE MAGISTRATE Charged with owning a dangerous dog, an Alsatian, Ruby Ferrall, married, of Frankton, pleaded not guilty before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, Hamilton, to-day. For the police, Senior-Sergeant G. H. Lambert stated that the complaint was laid by a cyclist, George Thomas Monk, of Frankton, who complained of being attacked by the dog. Other complaints were also made abojit Jhe Alsatian. No had been injured, however, and the animal had since been sent to Te Rapa. Evidence was given by Monk who stated that the dog seized his leg and forced him off his bicycle. Witness then interviewed Mrs Ferrall who, however, denied owning the dog. Mabel Evelyn Shaw, married, also gave evidence, stating that her children were badly frightened by the Alsatian. She also saw it attack Mr Monk.
Addressing the court, Mrs Ferrall said she was not the owner of the dog, which had merely been placed in her care for a short time. No complaints had been made to her during that time and she understood from the police that if she got it a home out of town the matter would be dropped. The dog was now at Te Rapa. Defendant was convicted by Mr Paterson and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution. The Magistrate also ordered the dog to be destroyed. -
