THE MAGINOT LINE

TEST OF DEFENCES ATTACK FROM THE AIR (United press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) PARIS, Feb. 21 France’s eastern border, including the Maginot Line and the fortified cities of Metz and Thionville, will be blackedout to-morrow evening for passive defence exercises approximating conditions of a military attack the Maginot Line to test the aerial and anti-aircraft defences.

Similar manoeuvres occured at Lyons last night, based on the theory of an attack from across the Alps on Central France.

It is understood that the operations are designed to give the General Staff an indication of France’s strength against a combined Italo-German attack.
