OBITUARY

MR A. F. E. A MOO RE The death occurred at Whangaref this week of Mr Alfred Frank Elliott Amoore, brother of Mr E. G. Amoore, of Hamilton and uncle of Mrs R. JKing. of Matamata. Deceased, who was born in London, England, came to the Dominion at an early age, and w&s w'ell known throughout New Zealand. Leaving the railway service 20 years ago, he joined the Portland Cement Company, with which he had been connected ever since. The funeral took place yesterday, the cortege being one of the longest seen in Whangarei, among those present being the full staff of the Portland works, which had been closed for the afternoon as a mark of respect. In addition to the Church of England burial service, the impressive service of the Order of Druids was conducted at the graveside, deceased having been a member of the Masterlon Lodge. The late Mr Amoore leaves a widow, one son (Mr Frank Amoore, of Portland und four daughters. MRS MARY SILVESTER The death occurred In Hamilton yesterday of Mrs Mary Silvester, aged 88. She was born in Lancashire and came to New Zealand, after visiting: South Africa and Australia, 53 years ago. landing at Lyttelton. At Christchurch she was married to Mr Silvester. who was bchool-teachinf in Canterbury. When Mr Silvester relinquished his position os headmaster of the Swanannoa school in 1897. the family raine to the Waikato, taking up a block of land near Huntly. Later they removed to Koroma!ua where Mr Sil\*>ler was farming until 1911. when Mr and Mrs Silv< st<>r took up residence in Hamilton. Mrs Silvcrster’6 chief interests wore in ehureh and temperance work as a iiH'iii'ier of the Methods' ciMii -i!. : Land of Hope M.ssion nd !!:<• New Zealand Alliance. She is survived by a son, Mr G. H. Silvester, of Paterangi, and 4 daughter, Nurse L. Silvester, of Frankton.
