DRUNKEN MOTORIST
PUTARURU MAORI’S OFFENCE SEVEN DAYS’ IMPRISONMENT (By Telegraph.—Press Association) P U TAR UR U, Wednesday. Sentence of 7 days’ imprisonment was imposed on A voider r l’homas Paul, a Maori, of Putaruru, when he appeared before the Putaruru Magistrate’s Court to-day charged with being intoxicated while driving a motor vehicle. Constable T. J. Cotter said as the result of a complaint made on Saturday he found the accused at the home of'Mr A. Holdcroft, of Putaruru, shortly alter he was alleged to have driven a motor-car along the RotoruaPutaruru road. He was so drunk he could not understand anything said to him. Accused pleaded guilty and in addition to the term of imprisonment was prohibited from holding a license until June 1, 1941.
