WAVE OF UNREST REPORTED GET RID OP TIIE GERMANS ” (Independent Cable) LONDON, Feb. 21 Germany is most perturbed over a wave of unrest which is sweeping Vienna, says the Evening Standard. Slogans written with red chalk, such as: "We got rid of the Turks, and we will get rid of the Germans ” are appearing In the streets and on walls. In spite of the efforts of the Gestapo (secret police) the sources of the movement cannot be traced, although it is known that more and more workers are throwing their weight In with an underground Communist movement.
Austrian Nazis are forced to knuckle down to Germans who override their decisions in regard to spy movements and do not hesitate to make arrests, regardless of rank. A concentration camp for Austrian Nazis has been opened at Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria, and several hundred are already confined there, while 127 were recently arrested for refusing to obey orders.
