SHEEP FAIR AT NQARUAWAHIA The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report at their annual Xgaruavvahia sheep fair, I in conjunction with the usual cattle sale, when fully the advertised entry of sheep was penned, and although the quality was a little disappointing, a total clearance was effected, values on the whole being in purchasers’ favour. Flood store lambs were a shade easier, but cull and poorer sorts I maintained full values. A medium j yarding of cattle, consisting mostly of yearling and in-calf heifers, came forward, but met a quieter demand. We quote:—Sheep: Light fat lambs, 15s; forward-conditioned lambs, 12s 7d to 12s 9d; good store wether lambs, 10s to 12s 6d; smaller, 6s 9d to 7s 6d; medium ewe lambs, 8s 5d to 9s 6d; j smaller, 7s to 7s 7d; good M.S. lambs, i 8s to 9s 2d: M.S. cull lambs, 3s Id lo 6s 2d; cull B.F. lambs, 6s 2d; medium 2-tooth ewes, 235; small, 15s to 16s 6d; best 4 and 5-year ewes, 13s to 15s 9d; 5 and 6-year ewes, 14s 6d to 14s 9d: 6-tooth and 4-year ewes, lis 3d to 13s 6d; S.M. ewes, 10s to 11s; aged ewes, 2s 6d to 5s 9d; 1-shear Romney rams, 2 to 4gns.; others, 1 to ljgns.; F.M. Southdown rarhs, 2 to 2Jgns. Cattle: Medium fat cows, to £6; lighter, £4 5s to £4 16s: Jersey and Jersey Cross heifers, r.w.b., lo £5 15s; Jersey heifer calves, £2 15s: Jersey and Jersey Cross cows, in milk, £5 12s 6d to £8 10s; poorer (fuality. £3 15s to £5.
