General Benavides’ trusted friend, General Antonio Rodriguez, Minister of Public Safety, with detachments of the National Police, of which he was the head, stormed t lie presidential palace, and held the historic buildiing, built in the days of Pizarro, for six hours. Finally the revolutionaries were dislodged by the palace guards and General Rodriguez was killed.
