FRANKTON READERS

I CHOICE’ OF LITERATURE POPULARITY OP LIBRARY ROMANTIC NOVELS PREFERRED Well-stocked witn a varying range of literature the Frankton Public Library has proved very popular recently and, by the manner in which they "avail themselves of the opportunities afforded for reading, the people of Frankton have expressed their appreciation of the work of the library. Almost at any hour during the day the reading room, which is stocked with many interesting periodicals and a variety of newspapers from the main centres in the Dominion, is patronised by at least a few readers. At times during the day the room becomes quite crowded. With a fairly large membership, the lending section of the library meets a steady demand for literature among the Frankton people. Ufteu the number of books taken out in one day reaches almost 200, while it is seldom that less than 100 books go out each dav. Travel and Historical While the readers, on an average, choose books from almost every section of the lending library, the novels from the shelves of romantic classification usually prove most popular. Travel and historical novels also have a fairly strong appeal, while the majority of members occasionally seek a smattering of political and world affairs subjects. A magazine section of the lending library is popular also, especially pictorial publications which appear to have come into favour among readers throughout the world of recent years. That there is a strong section of juveniles in Frankton who have an appreciation of lilerature is evidenced by the number of children's books which are lent, daily.
