PK> PIO EWE FAIR Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their annual ewe fair at Pin Pio, when over the advertised number of ewes was offered to an attendance of local, ‘ Matiere and Waikato buyers. Annual drafts of 4 and 5-year ewes changed hands under keen competition at late rates, while 2-tooth ewes advanced on Te Kuiti prices. The demand remained firm throughout, practically the entire yarding changing hands. As at previous fairs buyers again showed a marked preference for agemarked lines, also entires of sound mouths attracted attention but doubt-ful-mouthed and low-conditioned ewes were dull. For 4-year ewes Mrs A. Higginson topped the market at 26s 7d, while Mr L. G. Verry received 265. Mr Chas. Lowe's draft sold at 23s lOd, a pen from Mr W. G. Bilton changing hands at 25s 9d, while 25s 6d was paid for Mrs C. A. Battley’s annual draft. Entries from Mr R. Boddy, Messrs E. <4 A.H. Battenburv sold at 255. In the five year section top price of 21s lOd was obtained byMr J. G. Hunt, while 21s 4d was paid for annual draft from Mr J. B. Lowman. Mr L. G. Verry’s entry of 2tooth ewes sold at 31s 3d., Messrs Alderson Brothers receiving 30s 6d., while Mr Keith Walker disposed of his pen at 30s Id. For a line of 4tooth ewes Mr L. E. Young received 31s, 28s 6d being paid for a pen of 4 and 6-tooths from the same vendor. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report on the fair as follows: A yarding well in excess of advertised numbers came forward, many excellent lines of ewes being penned. The usual annual draft of four and fiveyear ewes was the subject of strong competition, buyers being present from the Waikato and local districts. Two-tooths were in demand and drew keen bidding. Top price for 2-tooths was made by a line from Mr Verry, bought by Mr J. W; Dodds at 31s 3d. ,A nice quality but of medium-size sheep from J. K. Walker sold to Mr E. J. Williams at 30s Id; fair to good 2-tooths made 27s 3d to 295; fair sorts, 25s 3d to 275, while small useful sorts sold from 22s 6d to 255. Principal sales of four-year ewes were 150 from Mrs Higginson 26s 7d, 112 from Mr W. G. Bilton 25s 9d. 127 from Mr N. Ronaldson 255, 134 from Mr S. Ronaldson, 24s 9d. 101 from Mr F. J. Barclay 24s 9d. 100 from Mr H. Houghton 24s 9d, 161 from Mrs Batley 25s 6d, 97 from Mr W. N. Gellatle 235, 110 from Mr E. Hansen 20s 3d. 151 from Mr A. C. Moir 245, 281 from Messrs Watson Bros. 23s 9d. 182 from Messrs Marshall and Tipping 24 s, SUO from Messrs Loughman and Barber 22s 3d, 167 from Mr R. Black 2 is. Other good lines ranging from 20s to 245, 22'! 5-vear ewes from Mr R. Black 20s, 103 from Messrs Watson Bros, the same price. 44 1 from Messrs Loughman and Barber 18s 9d. 112 4 and 5-year from Messrs Marshall and Tipping 22s 3d. 184 4 and 5-year from Mr N. Mcßae 2')?, while 99 5year ewes from Mr H. Hineman sold at 20s 6d. Other fairly good lines of 5-year-olds sold from 10s to 18s, mixed* aged ewes from the Bevage Estate made 23s od. while a small line of 4-tooths sold at 30s, useful 5 to 6-vear ewes made Its to 1 is, rough S.M. ewes realised 6s to Bs, while culls ma-i >- 1 1
