TOTALISATOR SOARS AGAIN
SCOTLAND WINS CHIEF EVENT FARLAND MAINTAINS UNIQUE RECORD The opening day of the Waikato Racing Club’s Summer fixture on its roomy course at Te Rapa on Saturday was full of incident and the popularity of the club further exemplified in record totalisator figures for a summer meeting on the course. The Frankton Hurdles commenced sensationally when half the field became involved in the biggest smash witnessed in New Zealand for many years and it was fortunate that the mishap was not attended with more serious consequences. Scotland won the big handicap to endorse the good impression he made by his success in the Rotorua Cup and Farland added further lustre to his unique record on the course when he won the open sprint, his sixth successive victory here. Rollicker bore out the promise he had been showing in his track essays and he was the only Te Rapa representative to score.
