MONETARY PROBLEMS WARNING TO REFORMERS OTTAWA. Feb. 17 A warning to monetary reformers that Canada was not going to launch any experiment “likely to bring untold harm to Canada and the poor people who always pay for such mistakes,” was given by Mr Dunning in the House of Commons. He asserted that the Canadian dollar would not be tied up with either the pound sterling or the United States dollar. With all the factors at work in the world of exchange to-day it was perilous to experiment with panaceas, most of which are based on a few isolated facts. He was not advocating a return to the gold standard, but as long as the exchange situation remained as at present it was dangerous to monkey with it.
