WEDDING

MALCOLM—BUSS EMBOSSED TAFFETA GOWN ► The wedding took place in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, recently, when Ada Winifred, eldest daughter of Mr A. G. Bliss, of Hamilton, and the late Mrs G. A. M. Bliss, was married to James, eldest son of Mrs E. C. Malcolm, Te Rapa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. C. Gilbert and Mrs Gilbert presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a charming gown of heavy cream satin taffeta, embossed in carnations. The bodice, which was fully pouched at the front, was finished at the neck with a high collar, and the full Bishop sleeves were gathered into narrow bands at the wrists. The skirt fell in a full fiare and was gauged at the back to form a train. She wore a veil over the face of cream tulle, caught to the head by a halo of orange blossom finished with tiny pleats of tulle. She carried a shower bouquet of St. Joseph lilies, roses and maidenhair fern. The Bridesmaids In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Eileen Bliss, sister of the bride, and Miss Jean Malcolm, sister of the bridegroom, who wore similar frocks of Marina blue shot, taffeta. They were fashioned with slim-fTtting bodices, tucked to form a A' to the waistline and having square necklines and short, puff sleeves. The skirts were ankle length and fully flared. Large picture hats with latticed crowns and worn tilted slightly in front, completed the ensemble. They carried shower bouquets of delphiniums, carnations and roses. Mr John Malcolm, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr Henry Laing was groomsman. The ushers at the church were Mr Kenneth Bliss, brother of the bride, and Mr Robert Malcolm, brother of the bridegroom. The Reception Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Centreway Tearooms, which had been artistically decorated in scarlet, white and gold. Miss Vera Bliss, sister of the bride, received the guests and was wearing a frock of henna sheer and a white sisol hat swathed in henna. She carried a posy of polyanthus, gladioli and roses. She was assisted by the mother of the bridegroom, who wore a London tan model frock with gold trimmings and a hat to tone. Her posy was composed of flowers in autumn tints.
