PARTY FOR BRIDE=ELECT
“PANTRY” EVENING Mrs J. N. Ward was hostess at a “pantry” evening at the home of her mother, Mrs S. R. Hawken, on Wednesday evening, in honour of Miss Grace Hubbard, who is to be married tomorrow. The evening was spent in games and musical items, and the guest-of-honour was the recipient of many gift parcels. Mrs J. N. Ward received the guests wearing a frock of dusky rose crepe and Miss Hubbard wore navy georgette over talTeta. appliqued in white. Among tho-se present were : Mesdames S. R. Hawken, F. W. W. Hubbard, Carbon. Sellars, Vincent, Lendrum, Kirk (Auckland . Hargreaves, S. Henderson, H. Farr, Chapman. Misses Rita Holmes, Billie Murtagh, Ruth Carbon. J. and D. Sellars, V. Foulston, Alice and Ivy Jones, Sybil Primrose. JOLLY GIFT EVENING Miss Rita Holmes, of Dunedin, was hostess at a delightful gift evening recently for Miss Grace Hubbard, who is to be a February bride. The party was held at the home of Mrs F. W. W. Hubbard, and the evening was spent in music and dancing. During the evening Mi-ss Holmes entertained her guests with songs and with items on the piano-accordion. A delicious supper was served, afler which the guest-of-honour opened the parcels. Mr Charles Hubbard .and Mr Sidney Hawken responded with happy speeches, and “For They are Jolly Good Fellows” and “Auld I .rang Syne” brought the evening to a close. •Miss Rita Holmes, to receive her guests, was wearing coral pink lacquered satin with blue, ruffles and matching coatee; Miss Hubbard, navy and white patterned georgette with cherry swathe; Mrs Hubbard, black and white georgette; and Mrs S. R. Hawken, black flowered satin. The guests included Mesdames J. R. MacKinnon, S. R. Hawken, T. B. Lendrum, F. J. Tattlcy, 11. Farr, F. W. W. Hubbard; Misses Rita Holmes, Grace Hubbard, Dulcie Griffiths, Billie Murtagh, Irene Moore, Marion MacKinnon.
