STOCK SALES BTORE SHEEP AT FRANKTON Messr* Dalxety and Compmry, Limited, report on their weekly store sheep sale held at Frankton on Wednesday as follows: A large yarding of ewes and lambs came forward, being reminiscent of former sheep sales in this centre. With the exception of two or three outstanding lines, prices were slightly easier than recent sheep fairs in the surrounding districts. No doubt the further recent drop in the export lamb prices was responsible for store lambs selling at below late sales. Good shorn wether lambs on acount of Mr W. Moore, of Waitetuna and Mr F. E. Trolovc, of Te Mata, sold at 12s 6d and Its lid respectively. A line of well grown two-tooth ewes on account of Mr Alf. Moore realised £1 7s 6d. this vendor's four-year ewes making to £1 4s 3d. A good pen of five-year ewes ex Mr L. R. Johnstone, of Waitetuna. made 19s 9d, while Mr W. Moore's five-year ewes sold at 18s 3d. Good shorn wether lambs made 10s to 12s 6d; medium. 7s 3d to 9s lOd: small, 3s 9d to 6s 6d; medium duality ewe lambs. 12s fid to 13s fid: smaller, 9s 9d to 11s fid: well grown two-tooth ewes, £1 5s fid to £1 7s fid; smaller, 21s to 235: gend fiveyear ewes, lfis to 19s 9d; others, 13s to 15s fid. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held their store sheep sale at j Frankton on Thursday, when fully the j advertised entry came forward. Bidding was steady, although values for j lambs eased slightly on comparison j with last week's rates, but ewes sold readily at late quotations. Realisations were:—Small to medium 2-tooth ewes, 20s 9d to 27s 3d: small to mixed age ewes, 15s 3d to 19s fid: j aged ewes, 7s 9d to 10s 3d: 2-tooth wethers, to 15s 9d; good shorn wether lambs. 9s 2d to 11s 3d; smaller, 6s 5d to 8s 9d; woolly wether lambs, 8s lOd to 12s; cull lambs, 4s 6d to 6s. WAIHOU REALISATIONS The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report on their usual fortnightly Waihou stock sate on Thursday when a lull yarding of cattle, comprising chiefly light, unfinished and boner cattle carne forward. No good beef cattle were in evidence, but competition was ’steady j throughout, a total clearance at late rates being effected. An average yarding of sheep comprised mostly store lambs, with fat sheep in shorter ; supply. Another full yarding of fat : pigs saw bidding steady throughout, values remaining firm. In the store and weaner section a medium entry i came forward with large and medium stores selliDg readily at late rates* but j slips and weaners were hard to quit. ! Quotations. OHINEWAI YARDINGS The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report at their Ohinewai stock sale on Thursday a full entry of all classes of cattle. Competition for beef and boner cattle was steady, prices remaining unchanged. A good yarding'of store cattle failed to command attention, and passings were not infrequent. Prime cows made £6 16s to £7 7s 6d; fat Jersey cows, £4 14s to £5 10s; killable, £4 to £4 11s; boner cows, £3 to £3 18s; medium. £2 to £2 14s; potter bulls, heavy, £8 to £lO ss; light, £4 10s to £5 15s; Polled Angus cows and calves to £5 15s; Jersey cows and calves, £4 Is to £5 Is. TE KUITI RAM FAIR Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report on the Te Kuiti ram fair on Monday. The advertised entry was penned and was submitted to a good bench of buyers. Competiton for best class Southdown and Romney rams was keen and prices were on a par with top prices at other fairs this season. Tail end sheep also sold well, the market being firm to the end of the sale. The top price for southdowns was made by an excellent line from Mr T. G. Mason, which made up to 10 guineas. Stud Romney rams from Mr A. R. Buchanan made 15 to 20 guineas. Best Southdowns ranged from 7 to 10 guineas; good sheep 5 to 8 puineas: small sorts, 3 to 6 guineas; best Hock llomneys, 8 to 104 guineas, the top price being for very good class sheep from Mr N. W. Pearce. Medium Romney rams sold from 6 to 8 guineas while tail end sorts realised 3 to 54 guineas. TIRAU QUOTATIONS The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company. Limited, report that there was a medium yarding of cattle at their Tirau stock sale on Thursday. Bidding for all classes was keen at prices slightly in advance of Frankton quotations, a total clearing being effected. Light fat Jersey cross cows made £5 10s to £6 6s; heavy boner cows, £4 8s to £5 2s; medium. £3 7s to £3 18s; light, £2 10s to £2 19s; medium Jersey potter bulls, £6 11s to £7; others, £5 4s to £5 15s. RATES AT TE AWAMUTU The Farmer." co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held their Te Awamutu stock sale and sheep fair on Thursday, when a pul yarding of fat and store sheep
was offered, all classes selling freely with the exception of local store
ewes. Store lambs were in keen demand and a general clearance was effected. A medium yarding of cattle comprised principally iightweight steers and Jersey cows, for which values remained unchanged. A fud yarding of fat pigs ana a medium entry of stores and weaners were forward. Bidding for baconers and porkers w*as spirited, values being on a par with Frankton rates. Stores and weaners, however, were dull of sale, but in most cases vendors met the market, satisfactory sales resulting. MATAMATA VALUEB The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report that at their Matamata stock sale on Thursday a good yarding of all classes of sheep came forward, and met a steady market. Fat sheep and store lambs sold at values on a par with late sales, while interest in the offering of breeding ewes was lacking. There was again a full offering of all classes of cattle, the entry of ox and cow beef including a fair proportion of finished cattle which met with brisk competition. values remaining fully on a par with Frankton quotations. A heavy yarding of boner cows and potter bulls sold under steady competition, and in this section a total clearance resulted with values fully up to schedule rates. A number of Jersey heifer calves also came forward and elicited fair inquiry with values on a par with recent rates. There was a full yarding of all classes of pigs, the entry comprising mostly porkers, few baconers coming forward. Competition was keen, baconers, selling fully up to late rates, while values I for porkers were slightly in advance of i recent quotations. A light entry of I stores and weaners was dull of sale.
