BEEF AT WESTFIELD (By Telegraph.—’eperraT to Ttmest AUCKLAND. Wednesday A small entry of ox beef met with keen competition at the weekly Westfield stock sale to-day and made late rates. A heavy offering of cow and heifer beef reached last week’s level and second quality sorts were easier. Messrs Dalgety and Company. Limited, report having yarded 216 head of beef, comprising 72 steers and 142 cows and heifers, against 152 head last week. Quotations :—Extra choice ox sold to 38s per 1001 b.; choice and prime, 35s to 375; secondary and plain, 31s to 335; prime young cow and heifer beef, 30s to 335; ordinary cow beef, 19s to 245; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l3 10s to £l4 ss; lighter prime steers, £l2 10s to £l3 ss; light prime steers, £ll 5s to £l2 ss; small and unfinished, £7 to £lO 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £9 to £9 ss; heavy prime, £7 10s to £8 10s; lighter prime, £6 10s to £7 ss; light, £5 to £6 ss: other tillable cows, £3 10s to £4 10s.
