ENGLISH CRICKETERS CEMENTING OF RELATIONSHIPS •*lt is with pride and pleasure that we welcome you to Hamilton and the Waikato,” said the Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, extending a civic reception to the members of Sir Julien Cahn's English cricket team to-day. “We feel we have been done a great honour by Sir Julien in giving us the opportunity of seeing such world-rated cricketers, who will be able to give us some knowledge of how the game is played in England. “These cricket tours tie the colonies closely with the Mother Country,” stated Mr Caro. “It is well for us in such critical times to remember we are of the same blood and one of the surviving democracies.” Mr Caro expressed the hope that the members of the visiting side would themselves during their stay in Hamilton and that they would avail themselves of the opportunity of seeing its beauty spots. Mr E. G. Wolfe, manager of the English team, replied and extended thanks for the reception. “In your tour of New Zealand you are going to see one of the most interesting and beautiful countries in the world,” said Mr A. E. Sandford, president of the Waikato Cricket Association, welcoming the Englishmen on behalf of that body.
