BOARD RETURNS FOR JANUARY DROP IN MOST LINES INCREASE IN DAIRY PRODUCE * United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright i (Received Feb. 15, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 14 The Board of Trade returns for January show that imports were £75,570,000, exports £39,479,000, and re-exports £4,595,000. The principal decreases compared with January last year were:— Imports.—Grain and flour £2,225,000, tobacco £606,000, iron ore £1,469,000, wood and timber £625,000, raw cotton £1,251,000, seeds and nuts £748,000. rubber £736,000, iron and steel and manufactures thereof £1,965,000, oils and fats £604,000. Exports.—lron and steel and manufactures £1,519.000. cotton and yarns manufactures £781,000. The principal increases were:— Imports.—Dairy produce £841,000, other food £696,000, raw wool £990,000. Exports.—Vehicles, £1,308,000. DEVELOPMENT OF TRADE THE POLICY OF BRITAIN HELPING DANUBIAN COUNTRIES (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 13 The policy of the British Government is to maintain and, as far as possible develop, trade between Britain and the Danubian countries, and so contribute to the economic situation of those countries, said the Foreign Under-Secretary, Mr R. A; Butler, in the House of Commons to-day. Mr R. S. Hudson, Parliamentary Secretary for Overseas Trade, stated that Hie despatch of a trade mission to Rumania in the near future was under consideration. Negotiations between the British and Indian Governments for a new trade agreement have not vet been concluded, but the President of the Board of Trade. Mr Oliver Stanley, in the House of Commons said he hoped it would be possible to bring the negotiations to an early conclusion.
