TOPICS OF THE DAY
“ Truth Remains Truth 99 “Truth remains truth, whatever brutalities are abroad in the world, and however little it is regarded. Ultimately, true life can only be based on true ideas, thoughts and convictions. And perhaps the very hour when some ultimate truths must be proclaimed is the hour when they seem to be most completely overlooked. If more wars must come, they will only sow more poison in the soil of mankind. If more fierce endeavours must be made by nations that want wealth and power, they can only worsen the whole situation, and postpone further the day when the race shall attain its true life. Even now it is true that only love releases life. If people believed that, they might begin to practise love. If they were clear about that ultimate truth, they might turn from many less important activities, and, ceasing to waste their time and strength, give themselves to learning that supreme art. Therefore, even in this tragic hour of the world's life, 1 believe the truths expressed in this book are the most practical and momentous of all truths."—The Rev. A. Herbert Gray, D.D.
