SAFETY PENNANTS

COMPETITION IN CITIES REDUCING ROAD FATALITIES (By Telegrapn—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, suggested to-day that all cities fly road safety pennants during 1939 to see which could achieve the longest period of freedom from fatalities and so, prepare for traffic in Centennial year and keep before citizens the need for saving lives on the road. , He announced that a new Wellington pennant, the gift of the deputy-Mayor, Mr Luckie, was being raised shortly, replacing the one lowered owing to a recent fatality. Wellington still led the Dominion in the number of “man days” free from fatalities.
