MILITARY TRAINING
TECHNICAL SCHOOL CADETS GOOD STANDARD ATTAINED A full programme of physical, squad and company drill, section leading and guard mounting is included in the work being carried out this week by the two cadet companies of the Hamilton Technical High School at Rugby Park. Captain L. I. Day is the commanding officer, being assisted by Captains G. Martin and C. F. O’Connor and Mr F. Forster. Officers and N.C.O.'s of the permanent staff are also assisting. Steady progress was made yesterday when the new boys were put through their paces and a satisfactory standard has been maintained in the work so far. The main objective of the week’s training is to throw responsibility on the shoulders ol‘ the N.C.O.'s. to determine who are best able to keep discipline. Approximately 330 boys are parading and it has afforded an excellent opportunity of co-operating with the effort being made in regard to Physical Fitness Week, as a considerable amount of the training consisls of the ne%Y style of physical drill. This is done rhythmically, there being few dislinet breaks. The various movements are continuous for some minutes. A bathing parade is also held each day. A barrack inspection will be carried out later in tiie week by Lieut.■Colonel L. Potter, G. 5.0.1., and Colonel N. Mel). Weir, Chief Staff •Officer, Northern Military District.
