MORE BUSH FIRES
GREAT DAMAGE IN VICTORIA SEVERAL HOUSES DESTROYED NO TOWNSHIPS IN DANGER (United Press Assn.—dee. Tel. Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. IS With a return of north winds and high temperatures bush fires sprang up in Victoria to-day at several points. The Black Forest, near Woodend, is ablaze on a 12-mile front, and the fire is being fought by 300 men. Three houses were destroyed and others are endangered. Another fire near Marysville threatened a mill before fire-fighters diverted it toward already burnt-out country. Marysville township is safe. The Tallarook Ranges are burning on a 10-mile front, hut no townships are in danger. Farmers are moving stock to safety. At present the fires are unlikely to gain the magnitude of those of last month, owing to breaks formed by previous burnt-out country. In the city the temperature reached 106.5 degrees to-day, and up to 110 in the country. The city is shrouded in bushflre smoke.
