Overseas Tradesmen The Government’s proposals for obtaining building tradesmen from abroad with a view M accelerating housing construction in the Dominion were advanced a stage further yesterday. The Prime Minister, the Right Hon. M. J. Savage, in an interview this evening, said that a sub-committee of the Cabinet had been appointed to consider the conditions under which carpenters are to be brough.t from overseas. "The time has come for action," said Mr Savage, in referring to the housing problem. Wool Cheque In Australia Statistics compiled by the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia show that in the first seven months of the current season 1,770,325 hales of greasy and scoured wool were sold at the Australian sales, the value of the turnover being £23,694,552. In the corresponding period of the previous season 1.471,773 bales were sold, the value being £25,305,625. The average price was £l3 7s 8d a bale, or 10.7 d per lb., as against £l7 3s lid and 13.7 d in the first seven months ol’ the 1937-38 season.
