EWES AT TAUMARUNUI Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report that at their Taumarunui ewe fair they offered 13,579 ewes, mostly straight lines, and there was strong competition at prices in most cases well in excess of vendors’ expectations. Late shorn and tailing mouth ewes were not sought except at lower prices. Very few sheep were bought locally, most of the yarding going to Auckland and the Waikato districts. Best 2-tooth ewes made 23s 3d to 32s Id; medium, 23s 6d to 27s 3d; small, 15s to 20s 6d; small 4 and 6-toot.h ewes, 23s 6d; good 4-year ewes, 22s 6d to 24s 6d; medium, 19s to 225; 4 and 5-year ewes (best), 19s to 24s 6d; medium, 17s to 18s 3d; small, 12s 6d to 16s; 5-year ewes, tops, 18s to 235; medium, 15s to 17s 6d; 6-year ewes, 10s 6d to 16s 3d; cull ewes, 5s to 10s 6d. 6HEEP FAIR AT TAIMGITU Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report having held their annual sheep fair at Tangitu. Sheep were penned in excess of advertised numbers. The yarding was of good quality, a number of choice lines of four-year-olds coming under the hammer. There was a good attendance of buyers from local districts, Waikato and Taranaki. Best 4-year ewes made 23s 3d to 24s 6d; 5-year good quality ewes, 20s to 21s 9d; plainer sorts, 15s to 19s; 6-tooth ewes, 26s to 26s 9d; medium quality 2-tooths, 26s 6d to 28s lOd; small 2tooths, 16s 9d to 18s 6d; aged ewes, 9s 6d to 13s sd; best ewe lambs made 17s 3d; good sorts, 15s 3d to 16s; good woolly lambs, 15s Id; good wether Jambs, 12s to 12s 3d; medium lambs, 9s to 10s 2d; small sorts, 5s to -8s; F.M. Romney rams, 2£ to guineas. TE KUITI EWE VALUES Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report on the Te Kuiti ewe fair as follows: We penned sheep in excess of advertised numbers. There was a good attendance of buyers from local districts and South Waikato. Generally speaking, the sheep came forward in good order, a number of lines of four and five-year ewes of excellent quality being offered. Top sales of these classes were 200 4-year ewes from Mr W. S. Park, Rangitoto. which sold at 25s Id; 23'* 5-year ewes from Messrs Barker Bros., Mangapeehi, sold in conjunction with Messrs Dalgety and Company. 20s 6d;

220 5-year from Mr A. C. Ronaldson at the same price; while 100 medium quality six-tooth to five-year-olds from Mr W. Albrechtsen, made 21s. With the exception of two pens we made a clearance under the hammer. Quotations: Best 4-year ewes, 24s to 25s Id; best 5-year really good sheep. 20s to 20s 6d; plainer, 18s to 19s 6d: pood five-year-olds, 16s 6d to 18s 3d; useful one-year ewes, five and six-year-old, 13s 9d to 16s 6d. For ewes six-year and over there was a ready market at 10s to 12s. There was a small entry of 2-tooth ewes, medium sorts making 18s to 24s 6d. There was a fairly heavy entry of poor-conditioned five and six-year ewes which made 9s to 12s; cull ewes sold from 4s 6d to Bs. It was a satisfactory sale with best four and five-year ewes on a par with the highest prices of the season.
