The Rotorua trainer, M. B. Abbott, who on opening day won * double with Scotland and Llangollen, •dded to his fine record at the meeting by producing another winner in Haile Boy, who was at double figure odds on the win machine. Greek Queen, a consistent performer in recent starts, proved too good for the opposition at the weights and over the ▼cry decided stages drew right away to win with something in reserve. Sir Robin made a bold showing, while the odds-on fancy Heroic Maid, after having •very chance, raded right out in the straight. This, after her slashing success on the nrst day, was one of the surprising- features of the race. Heroic Maid made the early running, •bowing out as they eettled down rrom Greek Queen, Brazen Bold, Sir Robin and Merry Vaals. as they raced across the top Sir Robin had run up behind Heroic Maid and here Brazen Bold and Greek Queen were handily placed In front of Merry Vaals. who was heading the others. Heroic Maid led at the straight entrance but hair way down the running Greek Queen asserted herself and she gave nothing else a chance In the run home to win well by a length and a hair from Sir Robin, who finished well to beat the r&vourite, Heroic Maid, by a length. Tosh, after numerous disappointments, gave his best exhibition this term and after surging to the front at the hair-mile he cleared right away in the straight to win very handsomely. Rollicker and Galilee began smartly and they led along the back from Tosh. Royal Dance, Palustre and Ohmaha. A furlong further on, Galilee and Rollicker had taken up the running rrom Tosh. Palustre. Ro.val Dance and Ohmaha. Tosh then shot to the front to lead across the top from Galilee and Rollicker. and as they entered the straight Tosh was clear or Galilee. Rollicker and Royal Dance. Tosh won very easily by three lengths from Ohmaha with Galilee a neck away third. Palustre was fourth and then close up came Itollicker. Time 1.16.
