WEEK-END BIVOUAC
CAMP AT CAMBRIDGE EXERCISES BY WAIKATO UNITS A week-end bivouac will be held at Cambridge by detachments of t lie .Waikato Mounted Rifles and the Ist Battalion Waikato Regiment starting on Saturday. Approximately 80 infantrymen and 30 members of the Mounted Rifles will take part, the officers in charge being Major A. E. Gibbons and Captain P. C. Wallace respectively. Lieutenant H. H. McDonald. of the Army Department, Hamilton, will be adjutant. On Saturday afternoon officers will carry out tactical exercises without troops while the mounted men will have machine-gun work on the range and signalling. The infantry section will carry out preparations for the digging of rifle and machine-gun pits. In the evening the occupation of position by night with Ihe use of prismatic compasses will ho undertaken. Tactical exercises planned by the officers on Saturday evening will be put into practice with the men on Sunday, both units then returning to their homes.
