IN GAS-FILLED ROOM
RAILWAY WORKER'S DEATH DISCOVERY BY MOTHER *By Telerrann. —As«r*natlnn) HASTINGGS, Saturday Found by his mother in an unconscious condition In a gas-filled room in Royston Flats yesterday morning, Mr William Lawrence Stoddard (33), single, ■was taken to the Hastings Memorial Hospital where he died at 10 last night. Mr Stoddard was living with his mother, Mrs Halllgan. at Royston Flats. On going Into her son’s bedroom at 4.45 a.m. yesterday Mrs Halligan found him In bed unconscious. There was a hose pipe leading* Into the room from the gas meter in the passage, and the room was filled with gas. Medical attention was summoned at once, and Mr Stoddard was ordered to hospital, but he failed to rally. It is understood he had been In bad health for some time. He was an employee of the Railways Department.
