MEAT FOR BRITAIN
NOTHING DECIDED MR NASH’S COMMENT (Special to Times) , WELLINGTON, Friday “ We have been in communication with the United Kingdom Government for a long time on the subject of importations of our meat, but so far as I know nothin*: has been finally decided.” said the Minister of Marketing. the Hon. W. Nash, last nieht, when a message was referred to him from London stating that the House of Commons had approved of an import regulation order designed to enable quantitative regulation of mutton and lamb imports. Mr Nash pointed out that New Zealand had bepn working on a certain agreement with the United Kingdom, but its exports under that agreement had not actually been restricted. It was true that there was an arrangement relating to the quality of first grade which automatically restricted supplies of the higher quality. Arrangements upon which the agreement was based had been made some time ago, but the United Kingdom had not actually debarred any portion of Dominion meat from entering England.
