CAR PASSENGER’S DEATH SEQUEL TO OVERTURNING (By Telegraph—Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Friday As a result of injuries suffered when a car in which he was a passenger was involved in an accident near Hirhatangi to-day, Mr George Scales (22), of Palmerston North, died in hospital. Mr Scales was in a car driven by Mr R. M. McKenzie, the All Black vice-captain, which turned over several times. Mr McKenzie was not injured, but the other passengers, Mr C. Perrson, Miss J. Hancock and Mr P. Stevens, suffered slight injuries. LITTLE GIRL DROWNED FALL INTO SHALLOW STREAM (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday I Falling unnoticed into the shallow I Waiwhetu Stream early this after- | noon, Beverley Irene Allison (21), | daughter of Mr and Mrs K. T. Allison, Lower llutt, was drowned. I At the time of the tragedy the child was visiting her grandmother, Mrs W. .1. Allison, Lower Hult, and was playing at the back of the house alone when she apparently fell into a stream. MAN’S DISAPPEARANCE DROWNING PRESUMED (Special to Times) WHITIANGA, Friday ! An inquest was held at Whitianga : to-day before Mr George Darling, j coroner, regarding the disappearance i of Mr W. Sangster (76), from Hahei ! on October 4, 1938. Constable L. N. Rose stated that ; Mr Sangster left in an Bft. dinghy to j fish off Hahei Beach and did not re- ! turn. Extensive inquiries and search- | ing had been carried out by himself i and others, and an aeroplane had been used to assist. Nothing whatever was found of his body, the boat or his belongings. The coroner returned a verdict that Mr Sangster was accidentally drowned.
