ROTORUA TOURNAMENT FINAL STAGES REACHED WHITIORA RINK PROMINENT (Special to Times) ROTORUA, Saturday At the conclusion of yesterday’s play in the Rotorua Bowling Club's open rinks tournament, Michell (Whitiora) and three Auckland rinks were the only surviving teams of the 14 which qualified for post-section play this morning. Michell will play Gardiner (Auckland) in the semifinals and the winner will take part in the final this afternoon. The Waikato qualifiers at the end of section play were :—Michell (Whitiora) and Stewart (Matamata) eight wins, two losses. Details:— Bectlon B Eleventh round.—Booth, House, Davis and Michell (Whitiora) 27, v. Devonport rink, 13. Summary: Michell (Whitiora), eight wins, two losses. Section D Eleventh round.—Street, Lambeth, Woodhall and Choat (Whitiora), 19, v. Onehunga rink 16; Young, Gibson, Oates and Stewart (Matamata), 19, v. Epsom rink, 17. Summary: Stewart (Matamata), eight wins, two losses; Choat (Whitiora), four wins, six losses. Section E Eleventh round.—Hillsboro rink, 23 v. Watkins, Elliott, Cooney and Rowe (’Whitiora), 22; Carlton rink 20. v. Graham, Crowley, Lymburn and Coutts Hamilton), 17. Summary: Coutts (Hamilton), five wins, five losses; Rowe (Whitiora), two wins, eight losses. Post-Section Play First round. —Stewart (Matamata), 26, v. de Launay (Carlton), 15. Quarter-finals.—Maher, 16, v. Stewart, 13; Michell, 21, v. Queenin, 20. OUT OF THE FINAL MICHELL’S RINK FAILS (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) ROTORUA, Saturday In the Rotorua bowls tournament, the semi-finals resulted:— Robertson (Onehunga) 21 beat Maher (Auckland) 19. Gardiner (Otahuhu) 21 beat Michell (Whitiora) 19.
