GAY GARDENS
BLUE PERIWINKLES I have not found them blooming. Though I've searched both high and low I haven’t seen them anywhere, And I’ve always loved them so. I’ve searched through mummy’s garden, Between daddy’s rows of peas, ’Neath the tallest hollyhocks, And around about the trees. I’ve looked beneath the hedges, ’Neath the hawthorn bushes too. But I can’t find the blossoms Of the periwinkles, blue. Perhaps the fairies took them. For their dresses for their ball. But, oh, I wish they’d left some, ’Neath my hollyhocks so tall.
