FROM BRITISH STUDIOS REDUCING THE “B” QUOTA Films of the A grade, with the widest possible British and international appeal, will take the place of the usual quota of B productions in major British studios next year. Leading producers in Britain are in agreement with Hollywood executives, who have stated that B films—apart from a certain number of established “Series,” do not justify themselves at the box-office. And, while they have had a certain amount of success, it is thought that films with a rather limited "local” appeal, like “Storm in a Teacup,” and “South Riding,” for instance, must be replaced in the coming year by subjects which have a definitely universal entertainment quality.
