BOWLING AT ROTORUA WINS BY WAIKATO RINKS (Special to Times) ROTORUA. Thursday In section play of the Rotorua Bowling Club's open rinks tournament to-day Robertson (Onehunga) with Letham (Ponsonbv) and Bremner (West End) are the only skips who have so far suffered one loss. The greens were in even better playing condition to-day and the standard of play was high. Waikato rinks continue to do well. In section B Michell’s Whitiora rink has had seven wins, while in section B Stewart’s Matamata rink has had a similar number of successes. In section E, Coutts, of the Hamilton Club has had five wins. Details.— Section B; eighth round: Booth, House, Davis, Michell (Whitiora) 23 v. Jones, Turnbull, Bray, Gosling (Onehunga) 9. Ninth round: Michell 24 v. Scott 10. Tenth round: Michell 23 v. Gordon 20. Summary.—Michell, seven wins. Section D, eighth round: Young, Gibson, Oates, Stewart (Matamata) 21 v. FOURTEEN TEAMS QUALIFY WHITIORA AND MATAMATA (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) ROTORUA, Friday Fourteen teams qualified for postsection play in the Rotorua open rinks bowling tournament this morning, these being Robertson (Onehunga) and Bremner (West End), nine wins and one loss; Chiplin (Rawhiti), Michell (Whitiora), Queenin (Rotorua), Stewart (Matamata), Letham (Ponsonby) and Higginbotham (Ponsonby), eight wins and two losses; Gardiner (Otahuhu), Ilill (Carlton), Hopwood (West End), De Launay (Carlton), Duncan (Remuera) and Maher (Auckland), seven wins and three losses.
