GOSSIP FROM ALL PARTS A feature of the flrst-day programme of the Rotorua Racing Club’s annual fixture at Arawa Park on Saturday and Monday is the openness of the llelds and, with fine weather on the two days, the club should experience iU most successful gathering in recent years. Huntlngmore Withdrawn Huntingmore was scratched for all engagements at the Waikato meeting at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. Change of Stables Marie's Acre and Philcourt have been transferred from Ellerslie to A. Tinker’s stable at Takanini. In the Sprint Palustre is in great heart for her sprint engagement on the first day at Rotorua. In the semi-flnal gallops at Takanini she galloped pleasingly over haif-a-miie. Best of the Morning Oiunaha, who showed encouraging form at the Thames, has been going great guns in his preparation at Ellerslie and the other morning he was responsible for the best figures over half-a-mile. On the first day at Arawa Park he is to contest the Mokola Hack and should give a good “T account of himself. British Banner British Banner’s prospects at Rotorua this week would be appreciably enhanced in the event of rain. He won really well on the latter day at Ellerslie to cut The Trimmer and Loombination out of the major stake. He is entered for the Pohutu High weight on Saturday and also appears among the acceptors for the Geyser Hack. Condition of Respectful Respectful, who was galloped on during the running of the Takapuna Gup, has made a good recovery and is to start on the second day at Rotorua. The form of Respectful this season has been impressive and A. P. Brady’s representative will need only to reproduce his best to make a forward showing on the latter day of the thermal fixture. A Light-weight Prospect Among the light-weight jumping prospects for the Waikato Racing Cluh’s coming meeting is Kittle, who at Matamata, made a most encouraging showing in the Tiraru Hurdles to beat all but the more seasoned Bryce Street. Kittle jumped well and as Saturday's outing should improve her further she should be seen to advantage next week on her home course. Trevaco Hits Out Trevace drew attention to his Rotorua prospects by an impressive effort >ver six furlongs at Ellerslie the other day and he is obviously improved by his recent racing at Ellerslie. On the first day of the thermal fixture he appears among the acceptors for both the Mokoia Hack and Geyser Hack ond whichever be his mission he will have to be taken into account. A REMINDER \ Acceptances for the first day of the Waikato Racing Olub’s Summer meeting at Te Rapa on February 18 and 20, close to-morrow (Friday), at 5 p.m. with Messrs Blomfield and Co., Shortland Street, Auokland, and at 8 p.m. with the secretary (Mr E. H. O’Meara), P.O. Box 351, ’Phone 3140, Hamilton. Spinning Wheel It will not be for lack of condition if Spinning Wheel fails to show to ad\antage in pending engagements at Arawa Park. During the week at Auckland headquarters she indicated by an impressive trial over a round that she is on the upgrade and may soon make amends for recent failures. To date this season she has started on eight occasions without success. Fleetwind Well Fleetwind, who has not been seen with the colours up since the Avondale meeting in November, has been hitting out freely in her work at Ellerslie and is reported to be in great fettle for racing at Arawa Park over the week-end. Fleetwind may be in need of racing but the fact that she possesses early brilliance will stand to her in pending engagements. Holding Condition Well Tooley Street, who has been racing with marked consistency of late, is holding his condition well and it is apparent from the quality of his work this week that he has taken no harm from his Matamata outing. Tooley Street is engaged among the sprinters at Rotorua and will not lack a ffrm following in the betting. He won like a racehorse last Saturday. An Ellerslie Winner Bronwen won the Moana Handicap in convincing manner on the latter day of the Auckland mid-summer meeting and a reproduction of that form will make her difficult to dispose of in the Geyser Hack at Arawa Park on Saturday. Since the Auckland meeting she has gone on the right way in her preparation and it, certainly will not be on.the score of condition if she fails to give of her best. Engaged at Te Rapa Mr R. Hannon s jumper. Pyrenees, is entered for jumping events at the approaching Waikato meeting and despite his rise in poundage he will not be without support in his engagements. Especially in the event of the going being on the soft side he will appeal as he won in solid style among the - hurdlers on the latter day of the Auckland mid-summer meeting, when capably handled by R. E. Thomson.

By “Martian.”

Consistent Gay Rose With 7.12 Gay Rose is handily situated in the handicap for the Storey Memorial Handicap on the first day of the Summer meeting here and on the score of consistency she has much to commend her claims. After her meritorious second to Cheval de Volee on the latter day at Ellerslie she won the Matamata Gup in convincing manner and a reproduction of that form will make her hard to beat at Te Rapa. Full of Scotch Full of Scotch, who last season experienced a sensational run of success over hurdles, has been working in improved style of late and it will he interesting to note how he shapes in Rotorua engagements. The other morning he was associated over a round with Spinning Wheel and though the latter was shading him on the post Full of Scotch was sticking to his work solidly and withal gave the impression that he may not be long in returning to the winning list. Will Bear Watching Among the likely improvers noted at the recent Matamata meeting was the three-year-old Val Lu, who was having his first up for a spell and the manner in which he was sticking on over the deciding stages of the Hinuera Handicap to beat all but British Nation and Kaspian suggested that it would not be long before he was seen in winning vein. In his three starts this season he has registered a second and two thirds and on the score of consistency has much to commend his chances in the Hot Springs Handicap on Saturday.
