GAME DRAWN

AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS MIDDLESEX LEADS ON FIRST McCORMICKS GOOD BOWLING EDRICH REACHES HIS 1000 RUNS United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. .Received June 1, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, May 31 The cricket match between Australia and Middlesex was concluded to-day and ended in a draw, the feature being Bradmans sporting gesture in declaring the Australians' second innings closed to allow Edrich to score his 1000 runs in May.

When the game was resumed Middlesex had lost four wickets for 49 runs In reply to Australia's first innings' score of 132. They went on to lead by 56 on the first innings but with only two days’ play, owing to rain on the first day, Australia was never in danger.

The weather was cold and dull when play was resumed to-day. The wicket was dried but promised another lively day for the batsmen.

Compton and Human laced the diffl- | cult conditions cleverly. Human drove O’Reilly for a six to the pavilion. Nevertheless, O’Reilly was rather deadly, without luck. He shaved < Human's wicket and finally shattered it. The pair had added 57. Robins pulled O’Reilly for two great sixes in consecutive overs. Compton was dropped at the wicket off Waite when 41. Robins was bright, and got 12 off McCormick’s second over, but was finally dismissed. The remainder of the side were soon finished off with honours to McCormick. Australians' Second Innings For the Australians Badcock was out In Nevell’s first over. Bradman began uncertainly, but Fingleton was quite confident and batted very well.
