ON TOM THUMB ISLAND AN APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received June 1, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 1 The Deputy-Director of Navigation, Captain Rosskruge, was advised at 3 o’clock this morning that the steamer Kapara had gone ashore on Tom Thumb Island, off Port Kembla, and required immediate assistance.
