"TOO PREVALENT"
MOTOR CAR CONVERSION MAORI FOR BKNTENOC. (By Telegraph.—Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday “ These conversions of cars, especially in the main centres, are becoming too prevalent,” said Detective-Ser-geant Jarrold in the Police Court this morning, 44 and it is time something was done to show these young people they cannot convert other people's property in this fashion.” This comment was made when Tirol Ropata King! alias Rualrura Raroawas charged with the unlawful conversion at Hawera on Sunday of a motor-car valued at £352, the property of Len Nicholls Motors, New Plymouth. He pleaded guilty and* a oonvictlon was entered, but sentence was postponed pending reports from the probation officer and child welfare officer, and accused was remanded in custody. The car. a new one, being driven from Wellington to New Plymouth, disappeared when the driver made a stop at Hawera. When recovered ths paint work was damaged and the battery flat.
