OBITUARY

MR JOSEPH WARD PIONEER CATHOLIC TEACHER (By Telegraph.—Press Association) BLENHEIM, Tuesday Master of the first Catholic school established In Blenheim In 1872, Mr Joseph Ward died this morning, aged 93. Born In England, he came to New Zealand 75 years ago on completing his secondary education. Landing at Nelson, he came immediately to Marlborough. He is believed to be the Dominion’s oldest surviving member of the Hibernian Society. His widow, who is in her 90th year, Is a niece of the late Archbishop Redwood. _ . ___
