BURGLARS ACTIVE
FRANKTON PREMIBEB ENTERED SMALL SUM OF MONEY TAKEN Burglars broke into the offices of the Maoriland Timber Company and the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company’s grain store at Frankton last evening, causing considerable disturbance in both buildings. Nothing was removed from the auctioneering company's premises but petty cash amounting to £2, a wallet and a fountain pen were taken from the timber company’s office. Access was apparently gained to both buildings with the use of a jemmy, a window at a rear of the grain store being smashed in and a panel in a door in the timber company’s office forced out to allow the lock to be turned from the inside. In both instances the thieves scattered the contents of the buildings, and in the Maoriland Timber Company’s office a desk was forced and office material removed. In the timber company’s office it appeared! that peanuts had been eaten and the shells scattered over the floor. A paper bag with a few peanuts in it was left behind by the intruders.
