EXTENSION OF SEWERAGE WATER SUPPLY SCHEME (Special to Times) MORRISSVILLE, Monday. The Morrlnaviile Borough Council is obtaining s report on tne question or extending the sewerage system, which at present serves only the Inner area of the borough. At recent meetings of the council there have been several requests from property-owners Tor an extension of the sewerage system to serve residential portions or tne town. The position has become pressing sines the State Housing Department commenced the construction of nine houses In George Street, which is a short distance Trom the limits or the sewerage area. Negotiations arc at present in hand between the council and the Housing Department with S view to arriving at the cost of the work anil the coniributlon that the Department would bo prepared to make towards the expense. Further inquiries are being made as to how much the Morrinsrille District High School Committee would be able to contribute towards taking the sewer up to Alexandra Avenue, where a site of eight acres has been purchased for a new high s'-hool. Individual property-owners m the>e localities are aLo being approached for contributions towards the cost* ▼own Water Supply A further stasre m the improvement or the water supply or Morrinsvtlle. which has been under discussion by the Morrlnsvllle Borough Council Tor some time, is the announcement tnat tne council has accepted a tender for the supply of a “booster" purnp. which Is to be installed In five months’ tune. This purnp is expected to Increase substantially the flow of water through the mains into the town. The council is stiff considering a major scheme outlined In a report last year by a consulting engineer. Mr W. A. Gray, of Auckland. This scheme calls ror the construction or a service reservoir on Kurunul Iltll, near the town.
