COMPARED WITH LAST YEAR MONTHLY RETURN INCREASES (By Telegraph.— Pr*ss Association) WELLINGTON, Saturday The unemployment returns at May 7 disclose a reduction of 11,988 against May 8 last year. Compared with the position last month, however, there is an increase of 1099, due to the falling off in seasonal employment. Details are: Registered but not on relief, 1244 ; on sustenance and awaiting placement, 4222; on scheme 5 relief, 2848; total, 8314; on sustenance and totally unfit for employment for health or other reasons, 8000. The expenditure for the four-weekly period to May 7 from the Employment Promotion Fund as distinct from relief expenditure is estimated at £233,456.
