WEDDINGS
I DILLON—STEAD The wedding took place In St. Andrew's Church of England, Cambridge, last Wednesday, when Bessie Rosamond, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Stead. Monavale, was married to Donald Patrick, fourth son of Captain and Mrs D. Dillon, of Roto-o-rangi. The Rev. C. W. Chandler performed the ceremony and Mr A. G. | Boyce presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by j her father, wore a graceful gown of ! ivory embossed satin. The bodice j was finished with tiny satin buttons | down the back, and a spray of orange j blossom at the neckline. The bodice ; was fitted into a yoke which formed J a panel at the back, from which fell I the long, square train. The tightfitting sleeves full at the shoulders were trimmed with tiny satin buttons to the elbows. Her veil of finely embroidered tulle, which was worn over the face on entering the church, was held in place by a halo of orange blossoms and billowed to form the second train. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The bride's sisters, Miss Rose Stead and Miss Bernice Stead, were the bridesmaids and wore similar frocks of pink embossed satin faconne, with slim-fitting bodices finished with satin buttons at the back. The skirts were fashioned with unpressed pleats to give fullness at the back and forming a slight train. Their headdresses were latticed haloes of matching tulle, and they carried arm sheafs of roses and dahlias in shades of pink, with maize chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mr M. Dillon was best man and Mr R. Dillon was groomsman. Both are brothers of the bridegroom. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Triangle rooms, where the tables had been decorated in pink and ivory. The guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a navy peachbloom hat and fox furs. She* carried a posy of autumn flowers in red and gold shades. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs D. Dillon, wore a black ensemble relieved with Limerick lace. Her hat was to tone and she carried a bouquet of gerberas and polyanthus roses. WHITE—CONNING The wedding was celebrated at Knox Church, Morrinsville, last Wednesday, when Ivy Susan, eldest daughter of Mr L. J. Conning, of Te Puninga, was married to William Percy, third son of Mr and Mrs A. S. White, of Springdale. The officiating minister was the Rev. G. A. Naylor, and Mr C. McLeod played the wedding music. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a graceful gown of magnolia satin beaute cut on classical lines. The fitting bodice was fashioned with a high neckline and a rolled collar, finishing at the back in a bow. The front was gathered to a point and finished with tiny bows, the slim-fitting skirt falling to a graceful train. A soft tulle veil, appliqued with satin flowers, was fastened to the head with a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of roses, narcissi, cream chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. She was attended by two bridesmaids. Miss Myra Burr and Miss Phyllis Conning, who were frocked alike in gowns of pink satin beaute nut on slim-fitting lines, with fully puffed sleeves and skirts flaring from the knees to slight trains. They wore headdresses to tone, and they carried bouquets of bronze chrysanthemum? and shaded pink roses. The flower-girls, Rosalie Conning and Thelma Conning, wore period frocks of peach pink satin beaute with tulle headdresses. They carried posies of roses, carnations and sweetpeas. The bridegroom was attended by Mi John Conning as best man, and Mr Lawrence White as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at Burmester's Rooms. Mrs Conning received her guests wearing a graceful navy wool ensemble embroidered In navy' and white. Her hat was of navy, and she carried a posy of bronze chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. The mother of the bridegroom wore a smart navy suit with hat to tone. Her posy was of red roses and bronze chrysanthemums. The bride travelled in a nigger brown suit and hat with matching accessories. Among those present were : —Mrs M. Conning, Mr A. Conning. Mr and Mrs W. H. Conning, Mr and Mrs W. F.
