PLANE CRASHES
TWO MEN KILLED THREE OTHERB BADLY INJURED TRAGEDY IN AUSTRALIA (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) SYDNEY, May 29 An Air Force aeroplane with flve occupants crashed at the Greenhillß aerodrome, near Liverpool, this afternoon. Two men are dead, and the three others critically injured, one having both legs broken. The Royal (Australian Air Force authorities are reticent and it is difficult to secure details. One of those known to be dead is Flight-Lieuten-ant M. Allsop, of the Vacuum Oil Company, and the' other is a man named Lockwood. The Injured are Messrs Raymond Lawson, James Mackay and John Gordon. All are In a critical condition, with broken limbs and severe irternal injuries. The machine was engaged in bombing practice and when apparently flying low or making a forced tending. It struck the ground and ploughed up the earth for a considerable distance. The aeroplane was smashed to atoms, the wreckage being distributed over flve acres. One body was flung 70 yards. It is believed some of the bombs exploded on impact. THE CAUSE A MYSTERY MEMBERS OF CITIZENS’ FORCE THE SOUTHERN GROSS RECALLED United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received May 30. 11.iO a.m.) SYDNEY, May 30 All the occupants of the aeroplane were members of the Citizens’ Air Force. The machine was an Avro Anson bombing plane. Flight-Lieutenant. Allsopp. aged 37 years, pilot of the machine, had charge of all fuelling arrangements in connection with the flight of the Southern Cross to New Zealand in 1933. Corporal W. A. Lockwood, aged 22 years, died after admission to hospital. The cause of the accident is unknown. The injured men, Messrs Gordon and Mackey, told the doctors that they did not know what happened.
