STILL NO TRACE
MIBBINQ STOREKEEPER DISAPPEARANCE OF HINDU The boisterous weather experienced over the week-end has considerably hampered the police searchers at Taharoa in their task of endeavouring to trace the missing Hindu storekeeper, Delu Desai, who has not been seen since May 7. The dragging operations have’, so far, been without avail while considerable trouble has been experienced in this connection. The bed of the lake is more’ thickly covered with weed than was at first thought and the light outboard motor is not powerful enough to pull the heavy equip-, ment through the obstructions. The police have again had to resort to rowing the boats. The nine police oflloe'rs have settled down to their camp life and the searoh is being conducted In several directions, under the charge of Detective A. J. White, of Hamilton. Spe'olal spears to assist in the probing of the sand dunes have arrived while more powerful motors for the boats have also been despatched. The officer in charge’ of the Hamilton police district. Inspector C. W. Lopdell, under whos£ supervision the investigations are being carried out, stated to-day that the equipment is being completely tried out and replaced where necessary. The investigations were proceeding to-day without a hitch, although the inclement weather, naturally, made the! conditions more rigorous and unpleasant.
