KOALA BEARS
BREEDING IN AUBTRALIA IN THE NATIONAL PARK An attempt to breed koala bears in National Park Is to be made by the Trust, under the direction of Mr IL Whiddon, says Sydney Sun. Mr Whiddon said that an area of about 500 acres htfd been discovered, containing the necessary plant foods for the bears, and this area would be set aside for them. As the scheme developed bears would be liberated In the larger areas of the park to fend for themselves, and it was hoped that eventually they would be found all over the park. Other fauna reserves would be established later in an effort to fill the park with native anitnals Native Fauna and Flora “The park trustees,” said Mr Whiddon, “intend to develop to the fullest extent the 35,000 acres under their care, and, while keeping in mind their determination to make it the show place of Australia, will preserve and develop the picturesque native fauna and flora. “A large area of land is being surveyed for a huge nursery for native flowers, trees and shrubs.” The trust does not contemplate tho opening of any more roads through the park, but bush tracks will he made so that hikers can enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
